POLICE PARADE CAR ROBBERY SYNDICATE IN TARABA
The Taraba police command today paraded a-7-man robbery syndicate accused of terrorizing and robbing residents of the state of their cars and other valuables.
Those paraded include Aliyu Salmanu, Aliyu Abubakar, Matthew Haruna, Abiodun Sunday, Aminu Abubakar, Mohammed Manu and Kingsley Bitrus while Manda Aminu, Alhaji Ahmadu and one Umar who are also part of the syndicate are still at large.
Briefing newsmen at the Command's Headquarters in Taraba Police Commissioner, Ademola Omole said the suspects were arrested following an investigation into a robbery incident reported by one Aliyu Liman of Nyamusala Jalingo.
He said the suspects who were armed with machetes broke into the house of the complainant on September 6, 2014 and stole his Honda Acond 2008 Model valued at N2 million; six assorted phones and a plasma television valued at N35,000.
"The same syndicate are also responsible for series of car snatching in Jalingo metropolis ant its environs and were also terrorizing innocent citizens of the state at night," he alleged.
He said the syndicate after stealing such cars sold them to one Alhaji Ahmadu an international business man based in Jimeta, Adamawa State who in turn take such vehicles to Cameroon to dispose them.
One of the suspects, Mohammed Manu is alleged to be one of the drivers employed by the said Alhaji Ahmadu to drive the stolen vehicles across the borders to Cameroon.
CP Omole said a Toyota Venza valued at N5.5 million was also stolen from one Joshua Tabki, a Jalingo resident by one of the suspects, Aminu Abubakar and sold to said Alhaji Ahmadu at the cost of N1 million while the said Honda Anaconda was sold to him at the cost of N500,000.
